Today has been pretty a good day, no headache for the first time in 4 days which is great. I have been feeling quite tired today but definitely better than yesterday. My energy levels have been much better and I haven't really felt starving at any time throughout the day even though the times I've eaten have been quite erratic.
I have realised how expensive eating organic food is when you're eating a raw food diet. My plan was to eat everything organic but I think I will aim to buy as much as I can organic but I will also be buying a lot of conventional fruit. I completely understand that conventional fruit is loaded with chemicals but I feel that it would be better to continue on this trial whilst eating some conventional fruit rather than giving up.
Before I started the trial I thought that I would be spending a lot less time in the kitchen but I was mistaken I seem to be spending more time in the kitchen. I know eating mono meals wouldn't take so long but it still takes time to cut up the various fruits and vegetables. I have been trying to try different recipes from Dr Douglas Graham's book 80/10/10 and I have also found recipes on other raw food diet websites and blogs.
Since I decided to try out this way of eating I have spent quite a bit of time watching videos on tube and reading different blogs and forums. It seems that so many people are getting some amazing results and I'm looking forward to what I can achieve. I have no idea at this point in time if I will continue on this path after the trial but I would like to. It's difficult, when you're used to eating a standard diet and you see so much advertising around and you get sucked it to how amazing whatever produce their selling tastes. It's usually a disappointment but you still want to give it a try. Also, so many years have passed that I've been eating a standard diet that I feel it's going to take a long time to change my thought processes i.e. that I associate chocolate as a treat or that when I get in my car for a long drive I should have some sweets. It's going to take some time, we'll see what will happen.
My weight has remained the same therefore my weight is currently 139.4lbs, net weight loss is 3.4lbs in 2 days.
What I've eaten today
Smoothie: 750g of bananas & 100g of strawberries
This smoothie was very yummy and kept me going for a really long time.
Broccoli & Orange Soup: 225g of broccoli & 555g of oranges.
I found this recipe in Dr Douglas Graham's book 80/10/10. It was so disgusting that I ended up adding 2 more oranges that he has in the recipe. It didn't really help to make it taste better and I had to hold me nose in order for me to able to finish it. hehehe I guess you're wondering why I had it if it was so awful, well I thought that it would be good for me and I had taken the time to prepare it. I'm glad I gave it a go, but I'll never ever make it again. Give it a go though, just because I didn't like it doesn't mean that you won't.
1. 150g of raspberries
2. 400g of romaine lettuce, 30g of almonds and a salad dressing made with 130g of pineapple & 125g of red pepper
Raw food diet summary
I think I'm doing well so far and I feel I'm coping much better than I thought I would, it hasn't been easy mainly because of cravings and tiredness. The craving will just take time but I know I need to sleep a lot more than I do.
